Welcome to the beautiful Scheltenpass mountains in the Bernese Jura! We are here to actively contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. With combined forces and many helping hands, we are committed to clearing certain areas of bracken by hand.
What is Alder Fern?
The bracken fern (Pteridium aquilinum) is found in the Jura mainly outside of the forest. This also applies to the dry meadows and pastures of national importance in Schelten (BE). The fern can spread on fallow grassland and gradually cover large areas. Other species can no longer grow in dense stands. Together we can curb the growth of the bracken fern and thus have a positive effect on this special area!
