Biological diversity in Domleschg
The castle-rich Domleschg is not only a cultural gem in Switzerland, the biodiversity is also simply fantastic. The structurally rich landscape is characterized by dry stone walls, hedges, dry and rough pastures. And tall apple trees are everywhere; 120 varieties of apple thrive in Domleschg. This landscape makes it possible to discover wonderful orchids such as the man's fritillary, Turk's cap and many more. Birdwatchers will also get their money's worth and can observe red-backed shrikes, wrynecks etc. and, with a bit of luck, even a hoopoe. Another highlight of the area is Lake Canova, which is considered one of the warmest bathing lakes in Graubünden. The water of the dreamy lake can easily reach 24 degrees Celsius.
Outdoor learning: Education and teamwork
During the work, the pupils experience nature with all their senses and can forget about everyday life for a week. The work often requires teamwork and ingenuity on the part of the pupils. In this way, they get to know their own limits and possibilities and grow closer together as a class. Selected nature conservation work, such as alpine pasture maintenance, is supplemented with background knowledge, thereby strengthening the learning effect. The combination of experiencing, observing and understanding means that this environmental education week will stay in the minds of the young people for a long time to come.
Sustainable insights: Deepening understanding of ecosystems
Working in nature promotes and deepens our understanding of our sensitive ecosystems and the creatures that live in them.
